MANAGE THE DAMAGE: ROLL IT AND TONE IT!

Learn what a difference to your body a foam roller makes! Working with the 3-foot foam roller, this 30-45 minute workout works in 3 minute segments: first, prepare muscular areas with myofascial release foam roller techniques and, second, use the same foam roller for core training and balance exercises designed to increase strength, neuromuscular coordination, and overall well-being. You will get a full overall workout that combines the benefits of massage, flexibility, AND strength training! (Equipment: 6”, 3 feet foam rollers)
ROLL THIS!: TOTAL CONDITIONING ON THE FOAM ROLLER (for Group Ex and PT)

Learn what a difference to your body a foam roller makes! Working with the 3-foot foam roller, multiple award-winning master instructor Lawrence Biscontini, MA, introduces you to its many uses for both home and gym. In the first section, Lawrence shows how to use the foam roller for self-massage, called myofascial release. In the second section, Lawrence shows you great core training exercises for the entire body in various positions. (Equipment: 6”, 3 feet foam rollers)
(this session combines ROLL THIS and TOTAL BODY ROLLING)
TOTAL BODY CONDITIONING: THERE’S NO PLACE LIKE FOAM!

Both group ex leaders and personal trainers will learn the major purpose behind foam training for myofascial release, muscular hydration, and even core training. In this workshop, we will experience flexibility, muscle therapy techniques, and core training applications, using the foam roller in the first half and the small balls in the second half. Join Lawrence as you learn the proper techniques for releasing stress in muscles to reach ultimate relaxation, improved flexibility, and better overall mobility. (Equipment: 3foot long/6 inch diameter foam rollers and either tennis balls or Power Systems Myo-Release Balls or Myo-Therapy Balls or Myo-Therapy Balls Plus).
BARE YOUR SOLE

Research and Review from the Barefoot Trend Barefoot training is hotter than ever, and this workshop fuses the latest peer reviewed, cutting-edge research with practical applications of shoeless movement. This is a definitive exploration of the barefoot trend, commencing with applying research into the obvious disciplines like yoga and Pilates, expanding to non-traditional approaches such as integrated muscle conditioning, dance, sport movement, running, balance and foot care sessions that can stand alone. Designed for BOTH group ex and personal trainers, this workshop gives you detailed foot anatomy, kinesiology, biomechanics, deviations, and applications for your barefoot clients.
5 POINT MOVEMENT SCREENS FOR PT

As personal trainers, we often meet with our clients and assess their goals and limitations. This approach applies movement to your clients as an assessment tool: ask them to do 5 basic, primal movements and assess their abilities of stability and mobility with an objective checklist of criteria. Afterwards, learn key exercises that enhance each of the 5 movements to apply with your clients where necessary. Instead of traditional flexibility and strength personal training "testing" with clients, these interactive, multi-planar screens assess functional movement immediately, giving today's personal trainer one more tool towards functional training.

TOTAL BODY MAKEOVER: CORE TO EXTREMITIES

A 'makeover' promises results with some instant results and some long-term results. This approach to total body core conditioning uses minimal equipment and a unique counting system to train muscles with isometric and isotonic approaches, resulting in a total body makeover for your core, extremities, inside, and outside! (Equipment: traditional or yoga mats. Equipment NOTE: Have Gliding Disks? Call it "GLIDING into a TOTAL BODY MAKEOVER" and add 2 gliding disks)
BUDDHA-CAMP: AGGRESSIVE MIND-BODY

If you know Lawrence, you know he’s a lover and not a fighter, so “boot camp” isn’t in his repertoire. Seen at Equinox clubs, this is his mindful answer to the boot-camp craze, with an aggressive fusion of effective and intense series that all flow from Yoga to Pilates to T'ai Chi. Most uniquely, the only equipment used is bodyweight and an open mind and heart! (Equipment: mats).
PURPOSEFIT

As seen on tv, these are 20-minute workout experiences that everyone can do, void of equipment, to maximize results in minimal time. We address strength, flexibility, and even cardio work for weight loss. This is an empowering session not only for you but also for your clients and classes as you learn about the "brain-body-breath connection," and the 4-part teaching tool of PurposeFit. (Equipment: none)
SHOW SOME SPINE: EXTEND YOURSELF! (Also called "Rectus Beautimus!")

Learn new techniques -- backed by research -- for training each of the following: the rectus abdominus, erector spinae/multifidus group, obliques, and quadratus lumborum as we search for "killer core" and "amazing abs." (Equipment: none necessary but may include Gliding disks, stability balls, medicine balls, foam rollers or any combination thereof)
"HARD CORE, PEACE CORE"

"If we're created as a unit to work as a unit, then why train separately in isolation?"--Biscontini
Learn in this workshop how to maximize both proprioception and body placement to train the body towards its most functional capacity.  Lawrence will show you how to create an experience to address core stability and mobility intensely and traditionally at first (HARD CORE), and then flow into a more mind-body application of core challenge (PEACE CORE).  (Equipment: a selection from among the following: Gliding disks, handweights, stability balls, medicine balls, Reebok Core Boards as available).
"WILL & GRACE"
also called: "TEMPLE: Timing Enhanced Movement, Producing Layered Exercises"

Experience effective functional total body training techniques using WILL-ful and GRACE-ful strength and flexibility … stability and mobility… muscle and mind. Carefully selected exercises use the body as a functional, connected kinetic chain creating an adventure with various equipment.  You’ve never trained like this before!  (Equipment: W&G can use bodyweight exclusively or incorporate steps, tubing, free weights, body bars, stability balls, or medicine balls in any combination, as available).
MOBILITY & STABILITY DIM SUM

“Dim Sum” is Chinese for “little morsels of heaven,” usually regarding food. Get some dim sum ideas for group X and personal training applications that enhance the two fundamental concepts of fitness -- mobility and stability -- using no equipment and also small apparatus like VersaSteps?and Myo-Release?balls from Power Systems. You will expaand your exercise toolbox with a plethora of new moves to help people train to be champions of living. (Equipment: Versa Steps and Myo-Release Balls)
GOT BALLS?

Fuse the best of medicine ball and stability ball training as we combine our purpose of using an unstable base of support (the stability ball) and weighted, rounded resistance (the medicine ball). Lawrence will share with you exercises for individuals and groups that you take today and incorporate into your cutting-edge core training classes tomorrow, whether they are traditional sculpting classes or more mind-body like yoga and Pilates-inspired. There is "abs"-solutely nothing square about this workshop! (Equipment: inflated stability balls and medicine balls at ratio of one per participant)
